Fentanyl-related opioid deaths rise in New Brunswick in 2023

New Brunswick’s Health Department says fentanyl is progressively responsible for opioid-related deaths successful nan province.

A study by nan section says location were 72 opioid deaths successful 2023, pinch 71 of them accidental aliases whose origin nan state is still investigating.

Of nan 71 accidental aliases “pending intent” deaths, 54 per cent were related to fentanyl aliases fentanyl analogs, which is nan largest percent to date.

The section says nan state recorded 77 opioid deaths successful 2022, 68 of which were accidental aliases whose origin is nether investigation.

Of those 68 deaths, 40 per cent were related to fentanyl aliases fentanyl analogs.

The section says that successful 2023 ambulance workers administered naloxone — which reverses nan effects of opioids — to 689 group suspected of overdosing connected opioids.

It says nan complaint of group who “responded” to naloxone, indicating they were so suffering an opioid-related overdose, is nan highest to date.
