TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Travel expert Geoffrey Fuller shares some tips to bag the cheapest international flight tickets. He also recommends free travel services you can use.
Geoffrey said the first step before starting to look for plane prices is to search for airline routes via Google Flights. "With the exception of a few carriers, you're going to find the best options for both domestic and international flights," he wrote via his wife Emily Schuman's 'Fwd: from a friend' substack.
Next up is the timing of the booking which can have a big impact on the type of deal available. For example, if you book award flight tickets, it's best to do it 11 months or two months before the trip for the best availability and award redemption rates.
Geoffrey adds that airlines often have seasonal promotions, so using search tools to cover all dates is essential.
Travel service
Some of the “freemium” travel services that Geoffrey recommends include the Seats.aero site. The site “helps frequent flyers and travel enthusiasts find the best business and first-class seats using their airline miles/points.”
According to him, this site provides very fast and even real-time results on many airlines. "and awards programs that allow you to find reliable availability and multi-region searches," he said as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The second site on his list is PointsYeah. This site can be used to search for versatile and free award travel.
Geoffrey's third favorite site is Points Path Browser Extension. According to Geoffrey, the extension integrates with popular travel booking sites, providing users with real-time information regarding points availability and redemption options. Next up is the Thrifty Traveler, which Geoffrey said also comes in the form of a newsletter.
Roame.travel is next in line. Geoffrey says the site is designed to help people discover unique travel experiences and destinations. The site has a clean interface, expertly curated tips, and a 'nice curation of award redemptions based on your departure city and travel dates.”
Meanwhile, in last place, Geoffrey suggested the Point.me platform for cheap flight tickets. This site can centralize all award points, both from airlines and credit cards, into one site.
